Here’s a video I did for you to discuss the myth of the ATM business being saturated. I had a reader email me and ask if the ATM business is viable because all locations that they know of already have an ATM in them. So, check out this video to find out why all ATM locations are NOT in fact taken.

  1. Hi Carey, a friend just approached me with the idea of starting an atm business. I believe it’s a good idea, but am concerned about being stuck with the machines if it fails. Are used atm’s easy to sell? I live in the Niagara Peninsula,Ontario, seems like a good area to do this. Jimmy

    1. Welcome Jimmy! I have a handful of ATM Business Blueprint members from Canada.

You could sell used ATMs on ebay, craigslist, etc. Of course, I teach my students not to buy used ATMs from those sources but an experienced ATM business owner could certainly buy from there with no problem. I personally own 2 used ATMs (but I bought them not knowing they were used.)

Also, there are places you can sell your ATM route. HTH.

  2. Hey Carey – thanks for the video. Since I’ve become aware of your course, I’ve been noticing ATM locations a lot more. And you’re right. I was thinking the very same thing. This business seems to be saturated with businesses that already have an ATM.

Thanks for pointing out that in the case where a business already has an ATM, it’s still a business worth pursuing, making yourself and what you do known to them, because you never know what the future may bring.

Quick question. Do you recommend buying a list of newly formed brick and mortar businesses from a list broker to target?

    Iman

    1. Yep Iman….places with ATMs definitely are opportunities. The reality about the ATM saturation thang is this….if the ATM market really was saturated well I wouldn’t be making any money in the ATM business because I wouldn’t have been able to place ANY ATM machines….and of course we know that I am placing ATM machines and I am making money off of them.

I tell folks “don’t let the nay-sayers talk you out of making profits in the ATM business NOW by telling you facts that aren’t true.”

      Know what I mean?

And it’s funny that you should mention buying a list of new businesses…..I’m not even kidding but I was JUST thinking about that very topic on Monday. I have to say that I have never actually purchased such a list, but I definitely think it’s an idea worth pursuing. Because as you know, businesses are starting up every day in the U.S.

Great question tho, Iman. I will report my findings should I ever pursue that route.

      Carey
